Default Motor mounts

I need some help. I don't know what type of motor mounts I need to install a pontiac 400 motor into my 73 firebird. I am removing the st. six and have been told I will need to replace the frame rail mounts for the engine and purchase the correct motor mounts to install it. below or attached are two mounts from ebay both say they will work but they are different.

I just had a look at it. It's burried pretty deep, but it looks like it mounts to a bracket.

There are two plates that bolt to the front crossmember.

Any 70-74 Firebird with a Pontiac V8 will have them.

The insulator cushion mounts in your first picture bolt to each side of the block.

Once your engine is in place (cushion mounts sitting in/on crossmember plates) there are two LONG bolts that go through BOTH & tie the whole thing together

Anybody that's parting out a 70-74 V8 firebird would be a good place to start.

The crossmember plates are a bit tricky to remove with the engine out

Shouldnt that read the other way around? I think they would be pretty hard to get out with the engine in.
The nuts are inside the crossmember and are accessible thru the lower control arm cutouts in the crossmember. It can be done tho.

Your subframe should have the holes already. I recently went through this myself. A previous owner had installed the later style mounts on my subframe. One thing I found out is that not all of the 70-73 subframe mounts are the same. I have an extra set that wouldn't work on my subframe. I can send you a template and you can see if they will fit yours. There is a slight variation on the hole placement between years. Send me a PM with your e-mail address, and I will send you the template I made.
