Charles, you'll have to send up the warm weather. I refuse to move to Hurricane and Tornado country. But I might visit someday.
Alvin, if it's warmer tomorrow afternoon I'll be working on it. I've got one connection to look at before I get into it too far. The fuse block on the engine side. Back in the summer of 2007 I had no head lights and come to find out that was that side that came apart. As soon as I snapped it together I had head lights again. I have this sneaky feeling it's done it again. I've been a bit busy with the guys that fly a Mig-21 and an L-39 for the Reno Air Races based here at NewCastle.... I'm a ground crew member of the Warbirds of Delaware. www.warbirdsofdelaware.com Checkout the video of the Mig-23 that they also have.

They Work!!!!!!
Well, the headlights and parking lights are now working together. What did I do??? I have no freeking idea, but both come on together. Things I had to get done... I put in a firewall grommet in the empty hole just under the fuse block for 3 wires going into the engine bay. Sealed up the plates for the new clutch rod boot and plate for the steering wheel. Reconnected the light switch and got that back in the dash, hooked up the battery, turned on the lights, and both came on.
I know Charles, but I'm still baffled.

Well, I told you before, it's all magic!
Must have been a spell that got lifted, or a ground problem. Kinda the same thing, it'll be back. Till you find it and fix it! |

I don't think so Alvin. Like I said above... I reached down and snapped the firewall side of the fuse block connection back together with the inside and they worked. Not sure if power to the headlights goes thru there but some connection in it got things working again.

I had the old gal out to the Pike Creek Cruise Night last night. First cruise night or show for this year. She sure looked good with the head and parking lights on together. This is a shot of when I got home and backed into the driveway.... just before I put her to bed. Believe me, I wanted to drive all over last night just to show her off. LOL

Gary,
I know how you feel. I put about 100 miles on mine this weekend. Used it for running errands yesterday. Took the wife & kid out to the new Five Guys Burger joint & then took a nice drive. Stopped at the Marble Slab Creamery on the way home. Tried to find a local cruise today, but none have started yet. I just wanted to drive the wheels off of it.

BTW... found the problem with no headlights.... it's the switch. Looks like it's time to put the new one in. If I wiggle the switch shaft they come on and all are lit.
Grrrrs, April 18th at Fox Run Plaza on Rt 40 in Bear, DE. Hope to see you there. Get the Cruising Magazine as it has listings in it for April and May. Or www.cruisingmagazine.net April 26th in Millville, NJ at the Sonic DriveIn on Delsea Dr. (Rt 47) & Rt 55. Twist my arm and I'll have to be there. LOL

Bear, DE is a little far for me for a cruise night. There are plenty in the Pittsburgh area, just haven't started yet.

Cool Mod
Wow....glad i tripped upon this mod. As i inch closer to doing my 65 project,i creep back on here to learn more and it never fails....i always find something new. I'm wanting to use LEDs on my 65 and maybe even try to find a update for the old headlight system. I've seen some modern headlight conversions available, but most are a unattractive flat lense that looks boring. But this park light mod is sweet to learn, thanks guys.

Now I've got to find something else for the parking lights.... amber lenses. And yes I have seen them before back in the 70s. Real amber plastic, not the spray on transparent amber coloring. Plus I saw a photo of a 66 GTO on the Ultimate GTO site with amber lenses. They must be out there somewhere, so if anyone knows where to find them please let me know.

Could be JC Whitney sold a small metal box with a green wire and red wire sticking out. They provided directions as to where to hook these two wires. Great marketing since you bought a metal box with a red wire attached to a green wire. I'm trying to get up to 1,700 posts.

Just got my '67 this week.
This is the first modification I performed yesterday. Works like a charm! Even someone without any mechanical skills can pull this off within 30 minutes!!! (I didn't rush it) I'll post some pics as soon as I get some. Thanks for this information. Ya gotta love the PY forum!!! Where would I be without you guys?!? erik
