Hi,
the diagrams that I have show the thermostatic vacuum switch on some but not all V8 engines in 1968.

Mike
Rear valance is gone.

Not the original engine (according to the yard owner)

I could not read the trim tag, but did get the VIN 233371G116700

The owner would definately sell the hulk.

Hood pins and dual exhaust hangers? If so I'll bet it's legit.

Rear valance being gone makes me think it could have had the cutouts. That's the type of thing someone would grab.

Greg, mine's gone also but it rotted off while sitting on blocks in the previous owner's yard. I saw a lot of them that did this when the cars were still common.

To be honest, I was so focused on stripping the Tempest, I only spent 2 minutes at the "37". I was hoping someone would run the VIN to see if it's real.

Welp,

The T-37 (or GT-37) might just be saved. A member here (and he's one of our troops in Afghanistan) is interested and will be state-side in a couple of weeks to check it out.

Good deal. If it's a GT-37 it should be.

The auto trans killed my interest.

Figured I would post an update, I got the info and went to check it out being an eternal saver of the condemed but the car was beyond anything I could tackle and I am quite ambitious. Bad quarters, trunk, floors, hood fenders, late model motor with 2bbl broken header pannel bad core support etc. Dan was nice enough to give me the lead and I spoke to him for a while, the yard owner was a really nice guy and gave me a good price on the few useful parts on the car. It was a real lucerne blue 71 1/2 GT-37, I ended up with the factory hood pins windshield trim, really nice tail lights, parking light, sport mirror, dash core for 120.00 so I was happy anyhow. Mark
