The entire front clip is off my car (engine/trans out). I put the dash back together last summer (before I got hurt). Is there a way to hook up the battery/harness to get power to the interior? I want to make sure that all of my dash lights work before I re-install the radio/8-track etc.

Use jumpers or booster cables, ground to firewall and hook power to the big red wire from starter solenoid, the black with red stripe from back of alternator, or the black with red stripe from horn relay.
All three hot wires go to the same place. So any or all will work. Be sure to protect lose ends you don't use. Shows up GOOD in your diagram. A small jumper to tail light fuse will also power up dash light function to the head light switch.

Got power to interior (thanks QS). Is there a way to make sure that the light for the GEN (open hole on bottom) will light up?

Yes indeed, you can make anything light that you want.
The alt/gen light uses power and ground like everything else. If ignition switch wiring is intact, bulb in place, turn switch on and ground terminal 4 brown wire at voltage regulator plug-in. If bulb comes on like it's suppose to, wiring is good from regulator back to ignition switch. Same battery hook up as before. Last edited by "QUICK-SILVER"; 06-24-2009 at 02:24 AM. |
