Default Quick Help needed-Drum brake question

The car is on the mechanics lift and the meter is running!! I have a 67 firebird with stock 4 wheel drums. I have been having trouble getting a master cylinder and booster.
I ordered a booster and MC from JEGS. Supposed to be the right one for the 67. The mechanic is telling me the rod that goes into the MC is too long. Make a long story short, I ordered the complete booster/MC/prop valve setup from Matts Classic Bowties. It was listed as the right part for the Pontiac. The setup came and it has a metering block that the original setup didn't have. I think it is for disc fronts??? I have 4 wheel drums. Please let me know what you think! Can I use the setup with the distribution valve and not use the metering valve??? Are the MC and booster the same. Thanks

This should be easy for the mechanic to figure out. Is that metering block a completely separate item? Just have the mechanic replace what has been removed, the booster and master assembly. There should be a distribution block that is suspended under the master- reuse that.

You can not use a master cyl for a disc system on a drum system. The drum master has check valves....

I'd send it all back through the US postal service with a delivery confirmation and go down to the local NAPA or let your mechanic order the parts through his supplier.....

I have a metering block with my 4 drums. should only have to take out the 2 lines from the MC and put them back in the new one.

Call the tech line from where you got it, they should be able to figure it out for you.

So is the car still on the mechanics lift with the meter running?
What happened?
