The original steering wheel had cracks and holes in the foam and the spokes were faded. After test trying a few different ways to restore the foam I got the best results using SEM #39708 Flexible sem-weld to repair the foam & Krylon Fusion satin black plastic paint for color. As for the spokes, paint would start to fill the brushed aluminum and it looked like paint not anodized aluminum. So I tried a fat Sharpie permanent marker and used it like a brush in the same direction as the brushed aluminum spokes and it look like black anodizing. All the materials are easy to use and work with, I’ll let you know how it holds up???

I restored the horn button to finish the steering wheel. The plastic center has some little cracks but its original so I polished & reused it.
Thanks! Pat |

Wow, great work as usual! This will be one of the nicest '72 T/As out there when done (not excluding NJSteve's car of course).

Very nice work. I'm definately going to have to use loop pile in my 71 project...cut pile just doesn't "look" right. That carpet seems to fit well, what brand/supplier is it?

better than gm ever built it... awesome work... love the garage... if u want to put in the 8-track in the console i have a 72 not being used (can send along some Johnny Cash).... i was a little disappointed u went with the rallys over the honeycombs...i love the honeycombs but especially on the 72s when they were an option not the norm. but the main reason, it's the only year gm put the honeycomb grill inserts in the front bumper....nice touch... i wouldn't kick the car out-of-bed because of it... i hope ur son appreciates whats goin on there... nice to see

I installed the radiator, fan shroud, and condenser assembly along with a few other bits & pieces on the core support, New Year’s Day. Pat
I was able to use the original condenser mounting bracket in place of the new ones on the new condenser. The new front light wiring harness didn’t come with the Split loom so I installed new split loom and reused the original unions I found some plastic clip that with a few cuts look like the originals The original hood latch that was restored by Bill Oxley & Craig aka Norwood The original charcoal fuel vent system cleaned up nice The rearview mirror also cleaned up nice. I hope to have my side mirror back from the engraver with the date code this week? |

Thank you for the generous offer but as this is the original mirror and it’s in great condition I would like to keep it with the car. The side mirror glass needed to be replaced (scratches in the glass) so it was nice to save the interior mirror as its cool to think about all the other owner (3) who looked in the same mirror. I know, weird! Thanks again! Pat |

Wow, very nice....the wiring looks terrific, quite some effort there I'm sure.
I've seen Norwood's restored latches on other cars...he does nice work.
