Default 70-73 trunk drop off extensions

we all know that the offered 70-73 are the camaro versions! i want to know if the front portion that goes and weld to the outer wheel housing is the same like the original firebird and fits without trimming? someone told to use a 74-81 trunkextension which must only be modified in the rear which goes to the tailpanel and curve after the quarter and valancepanel! is this true ? when we look into the trunk has the camaro extension the same length as the original 70-73 or the 74-81 firebirdtrunk extension? any help would be great!

I just bought a set of the '74 and up drop offs yesterday for the same purpose on my '72. I only need the front 1/2 of the drop off on each side so the '74 and up matches closely if not the same as the original '70-'73 drop off design in that area but I don't have them in hand yet so maybe someone else will chime in to confirm if the front dimensions are exact. The '74 and up will be shorter by 6" or so in the rear and squared off there as well for the '74 and up bumper design. There was a post just a few weeks ago with pics of the '70-'73 Camaro drop offs clamped into place showing how they don't fit well on a Firebird on either end:

Here are a couple of pics of the true '74 and up Firebird panels

The Camaro parts that are listed in parts books for Firebirds are not even close, you might as well use one from a Nova. The 74-up fit alot better with modification in the rear as RicksGTO stated is the best way to go.

Performance Years sells them. The '74 and up Firebird drop offs are a bit over $100 each just about every place I found them. Many other places that sell them are selling the '74 and up Camaro panel and calling it a Firebird panel. If you run across them for $50-$60 each, they are most likely the '74 and up Camaro panels.

you can tell the Camaro panels quickly by how the front rolled bead intersects the drain hole. The Firebird panels have the front drain hole centered between the wheel lip and first rolled bead
