Thanks all.
Did it relly lower temps about 20 deg? I have an AC car, and would love to see that! I did all mods metioned in previous posts, but cont to run 220. Hoping this will help. A Camaro buddy said I should by a Be Cool or similar. Very pricey if you ask me. He says you get what you pay for. i say, he did not shop around enough. |

Yes it lowered my temps 20-30 degrees. After buying the EP radiator, I would not hesitate to buy one again. I know Be Cool, Griffin, etc are excellent products, but I am a cheap a$$ and wouldn't spend the extra money on a name brand part if I could get one that performs similarly for less money.

funnny you should ask. finally got it installed yesterday and ran the car for the first time. Could not get it on the road though... No front beumpers yet.
Rad fit right into the original mounting holes perfectly. Although, the actual core of the rad is about 1.5 inches smaller than the 4 core I replaced. The Shroud fit the core, but because the tanks are closer on the EP rad, the shroud needed some minimal dremeling to fit. I took off about 1/4 to 1/2 inch fron the upper radiator hose area, and the same by the upper tranny cooler lines, and petcock area. There is no where to secure the shroud on the lower part of the radiator, but mine fits tight there anyway. Let it run for 40 mins. No problems. Coolant flow seems adequate. Idled b/w 170 and 185 all day (190 deg stat), but it was cold here yesterday (55 deg). ( I also performed the fan clutch adjustment described in another post here. What a difference. When the air crossing the fan was cool, there was minimal fan noise. As the temps climbed a bit, you could here the fan clutch engage the fan. Really worked.) So, yes. The EP radiator seems to be a good buy. Ill keep you posted on how it is when temps climb. Rich |

Looks like EP don't make a rad for my ride, did anyone purchased a direct fit aluminum radiator at a reasonable price for a 1977 bird?

Just got one from Oscars for my 79 anniversary. Looks like an OK piece. Dimensions were the same from my original, have not had a chance to mount it yet but looks fine. It is less than 1/2 price so I could live with the aluminum look. Probably paint it.

So, an update on the EP rad. Was 80 here in NE PA yesterday. Ran the car for about 1-1.5 hours. Up hills. ealy driving, some heavy throttle. Well, very satisfied. Car ran the coolest it ever has. temp would get up to 190, then I could "watch" the gague as the thermo opened. dropped like the stock market fast to 170 ish and fluctuated there. With my 4 core brass it never ran that good! Car is a 400 mild cam 10.75:1 16 x heads, ALL the mods performed. This was the last one to do... payed off. Very happy. Painted it black with semi gloss high heat paint b/c I did not want to draw attention. Loos good too.

What do you pur in your new aluminum radiator, 50/50 mix or distilled water with water wetter (wondering if this gives enough lube for the pump). If you use water wetter do you need 1 or 2 bottles?

go for it. I still got the brass on from 65 still in mine. I been to a few car shows ;lately and noticed fewer aluminium radiators. Racers are starting to complain about duribility issues. Several have or are going back to Brass. Aluminum did not solve thier problem and cause some others. as a fashion statement they may still be "IN" but,,,

i am having a heating problem in mine and am seriously thinking about the aluminum rad. For all those who went with the aluminum, did you go with a 2 core or 3 core?
