Unhappy HELP!.....62 Tempest 4cyl. Oil Pan Needed

Towing the Tempest back from the paint shop today and whammo, something bit the oil pan. Now I have a nice hole in it. She may not make it to next weekend's car show in Santa Maria. Does anyone know who in Southern California would have a 4cyl pan? Are there after-market pans available? Once again, thank you in advance!
** It's been one of those days. First, the painter painted the car the wrong color and now the pan. To top it off, my wife is real happy with the driveway stain we have now. Oh well, at least the pan drained a little on the way home.

Same as a V8 pan. Any 60's era pan will work. Most early pans have the drain plug in the front & center. Some have the plug on the side. Will still fit. 61-62 4 cyl pans are the same. 63 pans have an indentation on the drivers side for the starter on the V8 cars.

Did you try Memory Lane in Wilmington? They had a red convertible with motor. Heard they crushed it though.

Any idea on what year pan I should look for? TransDap makes aftermarket pans but I think they start right around '65 and up. Would any 389 pan work?

Any 60's 326-389 should be fine.

Default oil pan 4cyl

I have a parts car that has a 4cyl. I think the oil pan is in good shape, I can check on it tomorrow. The 4cyl will not fit on the 326, it didn;t have the indentation for the starter. I ordered one from Summit and it didn't fit due to the starter. I finally got one at a junkyard. Let me know, I;m in Madera CA near Fresno.

There is a 4 cyl. oil pan on ebay. Buy it now--$14.99 plus $14.00 shipping . It has been listed for a long time.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to find a new aftermarket pan but for now I was forced to do the putty thing to stop the leak. I didn't know that you would have to raise the engine to remove the pan.

I would suggest finding a factory pan. Most aftermarket pans are stamped out of a thinner steel & are known to have sealing issues. Let me look through my stuff & see if I have one.

Keith, if you find the pan let me know. There is a 63 pan on ebat for around $14.00 if necessary. I think I'll listen the the good advice and pull the motor to upgrade some of the stuff the engine.

Tom, Better get the ebay one. Only ones I have are on motors. 14 bucks is a good price if the shipping cost is ok.

Keith

Got it. I couldn't beat the price as it was less than $30 including shipping.

Tom,
That pan has been on ebay for weeks as a buy it now. The price was a really good deal and the shipping seems cheaper than normal. It is getting harder to find replacement parts for our tempests and I wonder how long it will be before someone starts reproducing basic parts that fit. Your oil pan is a great example. Most suppliers will tell us that they have parts that fit when they don't. It seems most think any 1964 GTO part is the same as 61-63 tempests.
