Stainless rocker moldings work well too if you have access to any junk ones. I have never used aluminum but I would think a thin piece would melt and blow thru eventually. I would stick with steel or stainless, I know they work.

This reminds me of a sory. Back in the 70's (yes I was a child prodigy), a customer came to my mechanic I was working at (more like taking out the garbage and sweeping up). He said when he goes to get ice cream and he buys a certain type his car won't start when he comes out of the store. To make a story short, what it came to is certain ice creams took longer to scoop and pack into a container and his car had a VAPOR LOCK.

I like your GTO interpetation. My problem is at the track (or any side street) my bird develops a strong shaking after 90 mph. The wheels have been speed balanced with stick on weights, wondering what else it could be. New tires and they don't shake until you get over 90 mph.

You probably have a driveline imbalance therefore not affected by wheel balancing. If you have another driveshaft to try and see if it goes away that pretty much points to the culprit. Or have your shaft balanced because the tack welded weights GM used sometimes fly off leaving you with an unbalanced driveshaft.

Another possibility is actual rotor or brake drum imbalance that of course is also not affected by wheel balance. There is equipment that can be used to balance the wheel on the car and it takes into account the brake components imbalance also. Many large truck repair facilities have this type of equipment or could possibly point you to a facility that does. One important thing you should remember is if you have occasion to remove a wheel after this type of balance it needs to be replaced the same way it comes off the axle or the balance will be off again.

Thanks for the compliment on the GTO interpretation, as you may or may not know it is on one of the T Shirts my wife and I sell.

I put the 1/4 flepro gasket in and the insulated the fuel line.

It made a little difference. I still have to crank for about 3 seconds with the throttle half way down. This has improved from about 5 seconds.

I still have not recieved my phenolic spacer thus why I used the felpro gasket. Hope to block the heat crossover next.
