Default 3" mandrel-bent downpipe for 2.5" RA manifolds

I saw Paul at RARE is producting these. Looks interesting. Anyone tried them yet?

With the restriction of the smaller than 2.5" RAIII outlet and on the neck of the downpipe, I wonder what's the use?

That's what I'm wondering too. Could it act as a venturi?

Even though the restriction is 2.5", there is a certain resistance to flow along the walls of a tube. So - a 3" pipe will flow better even though it starts out at 2.5".

I think it's a good idea!

I had an issue with my RARE 2.5 manifolds sealing on their down pipes. There isn't alot of meat there to seal it.

From what I remember on some of the cross sections of the manifolds some are pretty small in the area where they all merge.

I'd wanna see a set actually on a car before I'd comment or buy.

I know this,on my '72 firebird,I've been working on my "odd-ball" exhaust system, and I gotta say it's hard to make that sorta undercar turn with a full 3" pipe.

I had to use the tightest radius mandrel bend I could find (3"pipe/3"radius),and even that is'nt putting things exactly where I'd like them to be.

But I kinda knew it would be a challenge,as I'm working with the Hedman shorties and the F-M crossflow system,so I gotta account for the header collector in all that too.

Was hoping it all would tuck up under there a little better really, but I'm not done just yet,I may still make some adjustments and see if I can get it all in there a little better.

But by doing that deal I can figure that these will likely take up a bit more room than some would expect, especially if the car is lowered or such.
