Default 67/68 Quarter sections

Anybody know anything about these? Who makes them, where they come from?

I believe those come out of Canada, where they originate, I don't know. I bought those or something every similar from I think it was "showcars"?. I would avoid them and buy quarters from a four door or something and graft them in. Contours are all wrong, and you still dont get the area right in front of the rear wheel.

I tell you what, I'll GIVE you the ones I bought, if you'll pay the shipping.

Have you seen the small patches for the wheel well advertized in Smoke signals? Picazza or something or another. Might look at that.

rustyrelic, that's ok, but thanks anyway.

Actually, I have a set of those patches and they're not bad, and I also have a set of quarter sections cut out of a rust free donor, so I'm set for my project. I just saw these for the first time and wondered what they were. Hadn't seen them before.

Thanks for the info on them. Thought if I ever needed any in the future for another project I would look at them, but I probably will not now. I was just curious.

Good information to know. You have to love these outfits that manufacture something that is totally incorrect, why do they bother??

Piscazzi Auto Body in Akron OH makes a good 67/68 patch panel.

I would suspect that those canadian patches are designed for the canadian version of the Pontiac, Those cars has a shorter wheel base than the american cars, they used the chevrolet frame, and had a different quarter panel from the american cars.

Why is that? These are upper wheel lip patches only. What's different about the Bonneville and the Catalina/GP in that area?

As it was explained to me by PAB or at least the impression I got was that these are patches were stamped for the lower portion of the quarter, below the belt line, and the shape of the lower flare of the quarter in front of the rear wheel is different on Bonne and Exec. it flattens out and is parallel to the ground for an inch or two, where the GP, Cat, Ventura doesn't have that extended flat portion of the detail line. What I'm needing is about a 4x6 or 6x6 inch patch at the lower corners in front of each wheel opening. Canadian patch doesn't even have sheet metal where I'm needing it. If I'm mistaken, forgive me.

The photo of the Bonneville above by rustyrelic has a hole in the same location as my damage, though mines no where near as extensive as his appears to be. Compare the lower curve of the body flare to a GP or Cat. and the difference in shape becomes clear.

DARKITEC, thanks for that explanation. I learned something new today. I didn't realize there was a difference there.

And PAB must have either changed their patch or added to it, because the ones I got from them do not go down to those lower complex body lines. They are only the upper portion of the lip, about the top third of the wheelwell maybe. That's interesting. I may have to call them again.

Just finished talking with them, they tell me that the patch is the upper portion of the wheel arch. Starting at the lower body detail line and extending around to the body line behind the wheel. These pieces are made for the GP, Cat, Ventura they can repair the upper wheel lip on the Bon, Exec but don't include enough sheet metal to patch the detail line in front of the wheel opening. The patches don't extend below the detail line so I'm out of luck either way.

Ok, that's the same as what I have then. Thanks for verifying.

Just a quick question for the Bonneville, Executive owners here. If someone where to make a patch panel for the sheet metal in front of the wheel. Just how big a patch would you need?

It sounds like I'm luckier than some, I need about a 6x6 patch which means I really need about an 8x8 patch.

What's your current situation? How much rust do you have?

Darkitec

If you are still looking for sheet metal for repair, you might take a look at these.

Saw those, great for a GP, Catalina, Ventura but the Bonneville and Executive are 7" longer and have a longer wheel base, the quarter panel is 3" longer in front of the rear wheel 4" longer behind the rear wheel and the contours of this quarter will not match the longer car.
