She was gone before I knew who she was.
I had to look her up on Youtube, thinking she was a black American R&B entertainer.

She was 27 years old, and coincidentally many other rock and pop stars dies at age 27.

Kurt Cobain
Jimi Hendrix
Brian Jones
Janis Joplin
Jim Morrison

But unlike the above singers and songwriters, Winehouse had 1/4 the talent. She was basically a side show freak, her only real appeal was a quirky voice, with a very jazz/nightclub feel. She had one hit, and it was only a hit because she sang about not wanting to go to rehab. Winehouse was the epitome of a crack whore being exploited by her record label.

Sadly, with her career in shambles, she's now worth more no dead than alive. Get ready for documentaries, new record collections, unreleased songs, and of course a made-for-tv movie about her life. They could probably slap some more tattoos on Megan Fox, and she could play the role.

How about her parents and a whole lot of fans Mike? She had talent and she also struggled with life and finally lost. It's a shame that no one could reach her and help her with her struggles.

Songs become hits because of the radio exposure. Her other songs are better and show her real talent. She had a voice and feel and a stage presence that few posses.
I love Janis as well but she was usually too high or too drunk to perform or make an album. That does not take away from her talent.

Rob...

P.S.
Please have the courtesy to not post unflattering pics of her.

That's going to be a tough order to fill....most of the pictures out there are unflattering.

Just another junkie who got to much attention thrown her way IMO.

My thought... Who cares? She was a 'junkie' who could sing and make money for her habit, pure and simple. Not a really great roll model for the kids of today, and yet they have to glorify her death. Big freekin deal!

A bunch of Marines dies this week while fighting to protect our country, yet no MEDIA discussions, nor recognition. They made sacrifices for others.

Did A. W. make sacrifices for others?
