Interior door picture needed
I need a picture or pictures of the interior side of a door showing the paint lines from the exterior color to the interior color. If possible I would like one of an un-restored door.
I ahve been told that the paint was broken in a line running through the middle of the door gasket all the way around the door and I have been told that just the top of the door was painted interior color and the rest was exterior. This is how my painter did it. I welcome all replies but would like a picture to show Norman if the who;e door is painted.

These are old pics of the '66 during tear down, they may be of help?
Clearly only the top portion was painted interior color and if you can see it the overspray runs down a ways. The body color coverer the front and rear sides & bottom. Remembering, however that every plant had their own ways of doing this so you may find variations of the door painting.

Firefighter,
I have a pic that might help. This is the door on my Linden Green car. It has a black interior. The car was repainted once, but the re-painter only re-painted a little beyond the interior door panels. Ignoring the repainted Green, you can see the original Linden Green was painted all the way around the door weatherstrip area, and was heavily fogged onto the interior metal structure of the door. You can still see some of the original red oxide primer though in the center area. The orange colored stuff is some sort of spray adhesive I think. If you look at the top of the door, the black extends about an inch below where the chrome trim for the interior panel is installed. The black was never repainted and is original. There is original green below the black too. I really can't tell, but it looks like the green was painted after the interior black??? The paints here are very thin GM lacquer I suppose. Good luck on your painting. I'm actually getting quite close to painting mine. I hope to in in late May early June. I'm feverishly doing filler work, epoxy, and 2K right now. I bought RM Diamont base color and boy oh boy what a thrill it was to pop the lid on the can and see the color. Hope it helps.

Here are a couple photos of my car during the restoration. Although it was repainted maroon at some point, you can still see where the original Linden Green paint fades toward the center of the doors. Also, note how much variability there is in the driver and passenger doors.

Thanks for the pictures. From what I see Norman has done mine the same way. I may be going back in a week or two and will get a picture

my car is candlelight cream with black interior. it has been painted but just an exterior repaint. the only place you see the black is in the front door jam from the door panel upper molding to the weather strip. in the back of the door the weather strip covers the black.

Hello all. Sorry I haven't introduced myself yet over on the "newbie introduce yourself thread" yet, but I saw this post and new I had some top of door pics to share that I knew would help. These are from my original 67 black with red car.
Hope these help, Tom |
