Default 2000 TA aftermarket dash cap

Just bought 2000 T/A. The "forward" plastic dash cover is cracked in several places. Saw a plastic dash cap for sale for $100. Anyone had experience with these covers. Are they easy to install. Do they look good.

I have one of these covers on my 2000 TA. It is very easy to install. The cap just fits on top of the panel covering it. You can silcone it on with the supplied silicone it comes with. I dont like the part of it that covers the defrost vent area. It's kind of like a flexible cloth screen.

If I had to do it over again I would get the factory replacement panel.

Where do you purchase either the factory replacement panel? or any other cap?

They are discontinued from GM. They are hard to find used because they almost always brake when your trying to get them out...unless you know what your doing. I think Ames or someone has them for $400 or so though.

With that said I have a few if your in the north AL area (no I will not ship them...they wont make it unbroken.) I get $280 for them.

pretty easy to replace, I did mine when the actual dash (above the 3 central AC vents) cracked

I got a newer one off of ebay.

Now I make sure to take care of it with plasticizers and sun shades

www.6litereaterdesigns.com makes an aftermarket dash panel but I am unsure of the quality. I would suggest you give (F-parts) Contemporary Corvette a call. They deal with salvaged F-bodys, Vette's and CTS-V's. (800) 367-8388

the stuff to protect plastic, be careful, some of them can make them look all glossy/shiny, but can actually dry them out worse

I need to add that if they are that hard to find I should keep the 99 for a spare as I have several 4th gens.
does the cap work well in hiding a cracked one?
my 97 now has 2 small cracks.

not sure what you mean hiding,

are you talking about the actual top plastic piece? where the defroster is?
