Default 68 Split Jekyll Hide Camaro

State Farm Insurance's 1968 Split Jekyll and Hide Camaro. Half of the car was built stock and the other half was built modified. This is to show as a learning experience for the insurance company that not all '68 Camaros are the same and vary in restoration, condition and value.

I've seen it in the flesh. Very interesting, but hard to look at....

They felt the need to do this to educate their agents about classic cars? Another reason to use Hagerty.

Does the engine actually run? With one cast iron exhaust manifold and one tube header, I'll be it doesn't run very well.

The thing I don't like about it is the impression that they leave that only a stock restoration can be done properly.

That is just DUMB. They spent several years and piles of money to do that? It would have been much simpler to obtain two separate cars to make the exact same point. My guess is that they hoped to get some marketing/advertising benefit more than just a training tool.

Thankfully they did this to a Chebbie, and not a classic Pontiac...

Being a 68 Camaro Fanatic, I see this as a waste, BUT, the Red side is making progre$$ at auctions and is sometimes now associated with original. Once you repeat a lie long enough.......

ONLY a Stock RESTORATION CAN be done properly
If you "RESTORE" you bring it back to its original state
Anything else, even nice, is a "restification" This includes one of mine..
Restification can be done any way you want, and 5 ways are "correct", just like carpentry ( no offense Chris)

This doesnt mean than NON Stock cars have less value, as each should be judged on its own merits
AND Value isnt what it "makes" at Barret jackson.
