Brought her home
I was able to bring her home last Sat. Unfortunately I have not been able to get her out since then.
It was only about 11 miles but she seemed to run okay on the way home. Love the old cars, hate the old car brakes. The wife loves the car. However her first question to me was, "Your going to put disc brakes on it, right?" So I have a kit on order. |

Both hoses are flex, so I need to find,,,well both of them. Not sure where yet, I'll start with Napa. I'll end up changing all the hoses.
This car was originally sold in Hollywood, Ca on 07/14/1967 and still has the protecto plate. Yet, she was built at the Lordstown, Oh plant at the end of June and is painted the original Mayfiar Maize yellow which was not a standard color for 67. Basically a secretary car. The body is amazing, and I don't use that word lightly. I paid 13,500, maybe a bit high, but for solid metal I was comfortable paying the price. I've watched similar cars without a/c go for about the same price on ebay. It appears to have been restored at some point in it's past. Then supposedly it sat as part of a collection in a warehouse for a decade or so. I would like to maintain the original look while doing a few hidden upgrades to the suspension, a/c system (R134 conversion), brakes, radio, and of course making her a Sprint clone. Then just enjoy her. She does have a couple issues, two spots in the paint (one at the lower right side of the vinyl top, one tiny spot behind the right wheel, both surface), and someone cut the connector off of the harness for the turn signal switch, and the connector on the t/s switch itself and butt connected them together. I can repair the harness if I can find a connector. The headliner appears to have had some mold or mildew along the edges that I asked the wife to try and clean. If she cannot get her clean, no big deal as you don't really notice it anyway. However, if I do end up replacing the headliner I will install 3 point seatbelts for added safety. Otherwise, she is very solid and ready to roll. It even has a brand new spare that exactly matches the other 4 tires. Rally wheel, trim ring and all. |

all in all you couldnt build one like it for that money.
Cars in that kind of shape are getting harder and harder to find. I wouldnt do a 134a conversion if its still cooling. Wait for a major failure before switching over. Even if it just needs a recharge, bite the bullet. Calif cars have a smog pump and AIR injection lines. If you duplicate this in a Sprint form it will truly be a rare piece. Drive it in its present form and enjoy it.

NICE! I agree, leave it as is. You see too many that have transplants that ruin the car. I would sort it out completely and enjoy it! Great find at a great price.

I've never had problems with drum brakes on OHC cars. When set up properly, they will stop just fine

Very Nice....AC, even Power Steering and Power Brakes. I would definately leave the system R12 and not convert.....but then I would not convert to a Sprint clone. I think the car is much better left alone and enjoy for what it is. Great car! Congrats!
Better Brakes.....OK. TS |
