Original 73-77 A-body Photos and Color Transparencies
Might anyone have any original black & white or color press photos issued by Pontiac’s PR department?
They generally measure 8 x 10 inches, but can also come in the form of a 4 x 5 inch color transparency or 35 mm slide. The oftentimes have a GM Photographic file number on the back. I’m trying to document originals and was wondering what you might have in your collection or files. If you’d rather not post here, please feel free to PM me or email me direct at jamesrotella@cox.net with what you have. Thanks! |

Thanks. I've tried Walter Miller and they generally do not sell originals.
I'm trying to find originals and particularly those with GM file numbers. |

Alvin, do you have the original prints of the photos you posted? Might there be any file numbers on them?

I got a copy of the Grand Am All American print with my PHS packet years ago. Jim Matteson apparently sends some copies of prints out with PHS info.

Looking Forward to What You are Putting Together Photo wise

The images I've posted here are FYI to you that they exist. As of this writing I only have them in digitial format as posted...so no #'s available...but perhaps PHS still has copy's of the BW photos. FWIW - the '73 GA 4-dr IS a color GM image, and there is also a rear 3/4 view of the same car in front of the same house. I have been looking on my PC's and backups for the digital COLOR copy of the '77 Can Am GM photo that I have somewhere. I remember seeing it sometime last month when I was looking for another photo...so when I find it I will post it. IIRC it is a drivers side shot on a white sand beach under palm trees. Surprised that others who play here haven't posted that one yet. Perhaps Hurricane Sandy issues have kept them away. Here is a another BW poorly copied CA image that I found this morning. I'm sure I saved it from a now unknown web source. |

Found it!
Just noticed this is my 1,001 PY Post! How Appropriate.
The image below was downloaded & saved from the old Pontiac Registry website. This was posted and identified on Pontiac Registry as an original GM promotion photo. Last edited by Alvin; 10-31-2012 at 10:49 AM. |

Here is the only rear 3/4 view - and image size - of the '73 GA I could find, but I'm posting it here for your information.

Rocky, I checked the Can Am photo I have from the old PHS packet. No file number on the back, sorry.

Girl crossed arms photo was what I received from PHS. There's also a similar one with a long bridge in the background, probably added by the art department.
I have my doubts on that other one being a "GM" photo Alvin. It has Eagle GT's on it which weren't available in 1977. More like 1985. Just sayin'.

Sorry Rocky and too bad if it turns out not to be a GM photo. Perhaps was an avid CA owner, or Smoke's image taken back in the 70's or 80's? |

Rocky - Suggestion: You might want to check with Larry Kummer on the Pontiac Registry for info on the photos you are seeking. Website link: http://www.pontiacregistry.com/
As you probably know; Larry was the former Smoke Signals editor and he had previously claimed on his Pontiac Registry website to be “…compiling the most complete Pontiac resource library…” The Can Am w Eagle GT’s image came from his website he created when he left POCI. His site now states: “More Pontiac Fun, Information & History Than Any Other Place Anywhere!” So, according to the website claims… he may have access to all of the information you are seeking. Here is an email address contact for him: larry.kummer@pontiacregistry.com IMO – PY IS THE ONE STOP PONTIAC SHOP! |
