Default door striker finish

I always thought the strikers were silver, cad plated? but after looking closely at an original 64 it 'looks' as though there are traces of 'gold' in places, especially on the tip of the bolt. I just bought repros that are silver and even though it they are 'supposed' to be the right length they are longer, but the do work.

Any info on the gold plating or am i seeing things?

I can't remember seeing anything but silver on these pieces.

Oh, how I wish we had digital cameras when our GTO's were new!

You are correct, that is Silver Cadmium. Depending on the metal, Silver Cad will exhibit some goldish tones over time and exposure. If I were a chemist, I could explain it in a more scholarlyl manner, but... I am not. Larry B.
p.s. Do you have a 67 gto HO on eBay for sale?
