The man was truly a musical genius. His use of contrasting rhythms and unusual time signatures, such as 5/4 time in "Take Five", redefined Jazz as we know it.

I first heard Take Five as the theme song for an old TV show called The Secret Life Of Machines. Great tune and a great show.

A great talent is stilled.

My squeeze is a huge fan and got to meet him once on tour. She said he was a very pleasant and humble person, and thanked her for "being part of his success."

I thought that was pretty classy.
