Anyone know where to find a pair of valve cover gaskets for a '58 370? Or would any other year interchange?

i dont know. i've been buying parts from rockauto and they dont sell 370 gaskets but they have gaskets for a '60 389. I thought they were the same but wasnt sure.

He told me that 1958-1960 are the same and the # that he has is VS11706R (R is for rubber). Personally I'd rather have the cork/rubber combo gaskets.

He said that he has them in stock and it is under $18.00 but he also said that you should easily be able to find them locally.

I used FelPro VS50005C on my '57 347 with Mickey Thompson aluminum valve covers.

Rock Auto shows VS50005C (cork) @ $11.82 and VS50005R (rubber) @ $12.45 as correct for 1955-1970 (maybe later, I didn't look) all 1/8" thick.

Also has a 1/4" thick VS50005AC for Ram Air starting in 1968 if you are using high ratio rockers.

I've always wondered about that - I've never investigated them closely but the early engines look like the valve covers have more rounded corners.

Besides the valve angle on the heads in 1967+ engines, would the earlier valve covers also fit? even with the rounded corners?

If you use 'early' ( '66/older), they are too short. They will work with spacers. I use early painted valve covers on my engine with modern alum heads because I like their look.

I know what you mean. I have a 428 with 670 heads with aluminum spacers that I would like to put my 57 script valve covers on. I added stacks for the breathers and painted them 58-65 Pontiac blue with dark blue for the PONTIAC script. Reminds me of the way early 331 Cadillac covers were done (different colors of course), and makes the name Pontiac stand out. I'm also fond of the 55-56 Strato Streak aluminum emblem that was used on valve covers. Even though Pontiac changed the names of it's engine from Strato Streak, Tempest, Trophy, I still like the original name the best.
