You are correct, it's just the limit only. The springs and weights would affect the start and rate.

I meant that Suntuned's modification only acted to limit the vacuum advance, not the adjustable units. There's a spring in their canister which acts against the diaphragm, the adjustment changes the compression on the spring and the point at which the vacuum advance starts. It can also limit the total, but mainly the initial vacuum needed to start the advance.

Every time I pull a distributor and weld up the hole a little, then go back and have to open it back up a bit, I think geez...if only there was some sort of adjustable set screw, it would totally eliminate this problem....
But, of course, I wasn't smart enough to figure it out... Nice simple solution. Every time I use your idea, do I have to send you a check?? -Abone.

I'm going to gather the parts to do a few of my distributors.
Looks like the 4-40 is the smallest set screw they make. do you recall what size drill bit you used for the hole before tapping? |

Not off the top of my head but I'm sure I used whatever the tap specified.

I'm fairly sure I read a heated discussion about how a similar modi****ation to an HEI is evil and "wrong".
Just don't remember where I saw it... |
