Default Steering Linkage Parts

OK, I need to replace the steering linkage on my '67 GTO. PY has the Center Link, so does Y/O, for 3X the price. The PY part notes special inner tie rod ends must be used, something about zerk fitting location; others won't fit (?). The inner tie rods on the car now have the zerk fittings opposite the pin side. RockAuto has the inner/outer tie rods & idler arm. Question is: Can I use Rock's inner tie rods ? (1/2 the price of PY's) The same part # cross-references the inner & outer tie rods with same year Chebelle, idler arm is different. I've read that ALL steering pieces are unique to manufacturer and cannot be mixed, having to do with pin locations & fitment. I really want to research this as I can to avoid any parts returns.

Thanks all.

I bought a complete front end rebuild set for my 67. Included a new center link as well. Was $299. All raysbestos parts. All of the parts had the grease zirks in the correct places and were perfect fit.

That being said I'm not sure what all parts you need but maybe it's best bet to replace all parts?

I think you're looking at zerk fitting grease gun access issues. They do make 90 degree angled zerk fittings that would allow you to use the center link with the zerks coming out of the back of the joint. Just a thought....

I purchased from this seller on eBay. I purchased when it went on sale. You could email them and they'd probably let you know when it will go on sale to $299. This is the full rebuild kit. Bushings, ball joints, ect.

This one is only steering linkage:

I don't think the center link is an issue, it's the tie rods, the zerk cannot be on the back in line with the stud. Just make sure the application is for a 67 A body, not some generic one size fits all.

i bought all ACDELCO parts from rock auto - zerk fittings were on the ends like they need to be

Makes sense. I probably have incorrect inner rods now, as the fitting hole faces the frame (fittings MIA since I had car).
Will go ahead and order through Rock with the PY Center Link, as it better fits my budget. Thanks again for all your input!

Was there any problem with the "rubber" parts? Lately there's been a lot of concern about the new rubber parts disintegrating after a couple of years (2-3).

Default Tie rods

I drilled and tapped the tie rods end for the correct zerk fitting position then just put blanks in the back holes no big deal.

No problem with the rubber parts.
Not aware of the disintegrating rubber phenomenon. Got to replace everything so I know for sure whats there. Must get the car rollin safely as it's cruising time here in AZ.

Thanks, I'll try. Although the people on the phone don't always know specifics & dimensions about the parts they sell.

Ive been told the parts store chineese pieces are junk. Moog, TRW, etc are just about all made in China or some third world crapbox factory. I was instructed by Savitske to try to find older US made parts that were backstocked. If I cant do that im going to just order the pro-forged stuff from summit. The boys on the pro touring board as well as Savitske say that stuff will take a beating and that he's got the best chineese **** out there. I guess its like being the best player on the D team but its still better than replacing parts every 2 years.
