Weatherstrip Adhesive Vid
Just watched this video and it reminded me how long I was using 3m Weatherstrip adhesive the wrong way. Just up until this last year I was wrong. I now use an acid brush vice a tongue depressor but the results are the same. Plus my hands stay much cleaner now.

They didn't stress one of the most important steps is to wipe down and clean the surface with rubbing alcohol first.
But I never have put a second coat on the weather strip side before. Is that really needed?

When replacing badly installed weatherstrip, what is recommended for removal of the old adhesive? Thanks

Any of the prep-sol or acryl-sol type solvents (3M adhesive remover) works.
Just make sure its not fresh paint, and with anything like this, you may want to test a small area first.

What was the weather stripping adhesive they were using?

Since the video was put out by Steele I presume they were using Steele brand weather strip. Which is good stuff. And I think if you get the adhesive from them they ship 3M. Which is also usually the best for whatever they make.

Most the time the 3M stuff is yellow. I bought some black 3M Weather stripe adhesive and it was really crapy compared to the yellow stuff. Unless its changed in the last couple years.

I prefer the 3M yellow stuff too.
But, you have to be a bit more careful since it stands out when slopped around.
