Default 1973 Grand Am Upholstery

I have a 73 GA that I am thinking about restoring. Does any body sell the seat upholstery covers for the front and rear. I have read that the Firebird front seats are the same, But what about the rear? Are Grand Prix rear seats the same? I have looked into buying a nice original car a few times but missed them. Any body know of a nice original type car for sale? I missed a White 455 4 speed with honeycombs and sunroof on Ebay about a year or two ago. I thought it might pop back up but I haven't seen it. My car is Florentine Red with red interior. I have a set of honeycomb wheels and I found a NASA hood for it. I would rather just buy a nice car if I could find one.

SMS should have it. Not cheap, but appears to be original style

The Grand Am red color is "Oxblood". SMS appears to call it Burgundy. You could get vinyl or corduroy cloth.

Remember that when looking for an Original car there is no such thing as a 455 4 spd car that is Original , or from the factory that way. No Pontiac A-body Grand Am , GTO Lemans Grand Lemans ever came with a 455 & a 4 spd. Pontiac was the only GM brand in 73 that did not come with a 455 & a 4 spd. Olds, Buick, & chevy all had the option of having a 4 spd. with the 455 or 454 engines. So just as a bit of advise if you were not aware of this bit of info no 455 4 spd's for Pontiac. But back to your question Legendary & SMS both have the material for the interior of the 73 Grand Am & I believe they now also offer interior kits for the 73 Grand Am. If not both can supply the yardage for the car & then have a local shop sew them up for you.

Thanks for the replies and information. I had read that the 455 4 speed was not a factory deal. The car on Ebay was a gorgeous White with Oxblood, Does anybody remember the car on Ebay or know who bought it?I turned 16 in 1980 and I remember the 73 GA being a hot car with the older guys a few years ahead of me. One guy had a Black 455 automatic 73 with honeycombs that drove it like he was the Bandit. LOL! A doctor in our town had a Brown one with the Cream and Orange stripe and a 455. It was probably good for when he had an emergency situation and had to get to the hospital!

I have a black 73 GA with 455 auto and honeycombs too. Doubtful it's the same car as you remember though, unless you lived in the Atlanta area.

As for your question about the rear seats...obviously Firebird rear seats are not the same. But, Grand Prix rear seats are. I pulled some white ones from a 74 Grand Prix, with the "horse collar" style upholstery, at the junkyard and put in my GA a few years ago. They fit right in, and matched my upholstery pattern.

The front and rear Grand Am seat covers are reproduced already...

I purchased 3 yards of material from SMS two years ago to redo the driver's seat in my Can Am. The match to the rest of the original interior was dead nuts perfect.
