Default Blower motor seems to keep running on low in 79 TA...

I decided to test the electrical system on my 1979 TA/SE 4spd car to see what works and what doesn't. The engine/trans are out right now so I hooked up a battery charger to provide the necessary power.

I noticed that the blower mower seems to run constantly on low and doesn't shut off even when I turn it off. It will not do any other speed other than what seems like low.

What do you think is the issue?

This is normal. Part of the ventilation for cars in the 70's. The fan will always run at least on low regardless if you move the AC selector to OFF or not.

You could have either a bad fan switch in the dash or a bad resistor block. Both can cause the symptoms. Both are pretty easy to change out.

Blower on low speed with key on is normal and operating properly.

I replaced the blower motor resistor and that did not solve the problem. The blower still runs on low only and will not run at any other speed.

You may have to check the blower switch itself. Also I think the later modle T/As have a relay for the mid level & high blow relay to. It may be time to get a repair manual out & go through the non working blower motor steps. A factory or chiltons manual will work, plus the chiltons you can find at your library for free.

Yes I am already aware that the blower always runs with key in the on position as that has been repeated.

I went through a Heater Control issue that Pepi and Lee gave me a load of help with.
In my case I had changed the heater control head out to a later type and that is where the trouble started.
1- Be sure you are using the harness that matches the Control Head type.
2- Test or replace the Relay.
For me that was a factor.
Here is the thread that as a lot of info on the heater blower operation with lots of pictures.
