Default Lucerne Blue

hello all

my 70 TA is getting close to paint time...

my body shop is having trouble finding Lucerne Blue paint....base coat clear coat is the plan. i looked at old threads, and saw that this has been an issue for some of you in the past. Can anyone direct me to a current supplier of this paint?

i also need to buy a replacement dash....interior is bright blue. any ideas where i could get paint for the dash? Just Dashes is not in my budget....any opinions on where to get a repop dash?

and one more....i need to paint the metal dash area between windshield and padded dash. was blue...if we use the body paint with a flattener to eliminate gloss would that be close to correct? i saw old threads about special paint for this area that looked like expensive hard to get options. i am looking for something less expensive.

car is not matching numbers....i would like to be as close to original as possible without breaking the bank.

i appreciate any help you can give me. car had been repainted when i bought it, but got damaged in a garage fire....trying to get it back

If you go to an auto paint supply store that mixes either DuPont or PPG paints and tell them you want 1970 GM code 26, they should be able to mix it up for you.

I am partial to DuPont, as they had the best color match to LB back when I did mine, but that was a while ago...

I believe Mulsanne Blue (Chevy Color) is the same as Lucy Blue. This is what my painter used on my 71 Formy.

The paint code (26) was shared with most GM divisions and they each had their own name for it.

Thanks guys

egnarp...i forwarded your photo with the dupont formula to my bodyman, i think this info should be what he needs. one of the guys at his shop yesterday used their spectrometer and produced a sample which seemed like an exact match, but was not GM 26. it was some foreign car color. i believe it would be fine, but will continue to try to get it right.

i will keep you guys posted

One thing you may want to mull is that originally these cars were not as shiny as current BC/CC paint; I painted mine single stage Cameo White to avoid excessive glossiness.

"Excessive Glossiness" is just fine with me

In fact, it makes a lot of those 1960s metallic colors look way better than they did originally....

Kieth, its not so much the excessive glossiness its more the 1/8 inch of clear plastic over the paint look.
