Thanks Greenbird. Only had a lower section of the quarter to replace due to rust. Rest of underside had a nice protective layer of oil all over it due to numerous leaks thru the years.

Some progress
I did not want to pay for Dynamat, so I used this peel and stick stuff I found at Lowes. It's about 1/8 thick and about 9 bucks a roll. Took 5 rolls and about 6 hours to install. It was only about 60* in my garage so after it was down, I used a heat gun and massaged the stuff into all the contours.
Then came the AstroFoil. This was left over from a project we did in Vail. It was used as an insulation under a brick paver road. Very tough stuff as you cannot pop the bubbles with your fingers or walking on it. I used the 3M spray adhisive to glue it to the peel and stick. Very time consuming. Took at least 24 hours to cut, fit, glue and tape it. It should work just fine for what I want. Next is the dash repair... |

Started getting my engine parts back from SD this week. Wahoo...
Also found an old license plate at garage sale. Wish I could figure out how to legally keep it on the car. |

Also found an old license plate at garage sale. Wish I could figure out how to legally keep it on the car. In TX we can use a year specific plates if it's registered as a classic or antique. I use 1937 TX tags on my car.

I don't know if they do that here or not. I'll look into it. |

In Michigan, the plate that you want to use has to be the same year as the car you are putting it on.

I had this ILL 74/75 Antique plate on my Formula for a while.
You just have to have the real Antique plates in the car with you. |

Here in Wisconsin we are suppose to run with the collector plate's front and rear, however some guy's will put a plate on the front of there car from the year and state there car came from. I sometimes do the with my 74 Formula ( Minn. ) and my 72 GTO ( Ill. ).I have a buddy with a 70 T/A from Honalulu,Ha. who run's plate front and back from the state and that year. He's been doing it for over 10 years now and still has'nt been stopped.

Been awhile since I have updated progress, so...
I spent too much time fighting with dash repair and finally purchased a cap. Finished product looks good enough for me. Lousy picture, but you get the idea. Finally saved enough scratch last year to get my motor together. It's a 400/461 full hyd roller. Heads and intake by SD, carb by Cliff. Keeping close to orig. appearance was important to me. I got it close enough. It goes back in the car tomorrow. Still be several months before I will be far enough along for the maiden voyage. It's been quite the project for me. |

I love it!
I like the fact that you kept an original looking seat/door panel combo going ~ and that you left tha console out Did you know that starting in 1975 the console came standard in the Forumla? ~ that means your's is the last year you would see this. I personally don't care for the Formula wheel, but it's your car, and it looks nice (I've been more and more agains the Formula wheel, unless it's a factory option - simply because it seems of late as though every 2nd gen Firebird has one these days.)

The 1975 T/A I have had no console. Factory Delete? Bought from the original owner and had the nice chrome plate around the shifter.

Good looking car danpaul!
FTR: That master cylinder would have come from the factory painted black and it would have had the undrilled bosses for bleeders. If you're interested, I have a good core for rebuild that I could send you. You pay the shipping and it's yours.
