I am having new glass installed in my 65 and need to know where to buy the rubber that goes in the side window channels. Just to be clear i am talking about the channel that the glass fits in that goes on the regulator. I think i saw on this forum previously that you could buy it somewhere but it was not for a gto but for a cadillac. my glass man was going to use regular channel stuff but i think it is going to e visible and would not look the same. Does anyone know where i can find this? Thanks for all the help i have had on this forum!

Glass setting channel is available from Ames and maybe through our hosts too. 64-65 is a buck a foot. It is just flat rubber whereas the 66-67 is molded.

I didn't see any molded glass setting channel in their catalog that looks like what 65's side windows were set in. They were flat, a couple of inches high, with a small ( maybe 3/16") lip on the top if I recall correctly.

if I understand correctly JIMMYM is looking for the glass seting chanel used to hold glass in regulator on cars with out bolt in glass.
It is on page 36 item # lc36 this is the same as the rubber used in my 12c 65 post car. see pic of new material when in full up position this makes a seal to belt line molding blade or dew-strip. |

Jimmym, did this all today. First, use the 3M black weatherstrip adhesive sparingly. I had a helluva mess on the first one. Run a small bead of the adhesive on each side of the steel window channel before setting the rubber. Don't put alot in the bottom because the rubber doesn't doesn't go deep into the channel. Make sure the "fat" part of the weatherstrip is on the outside. You can tell by looking at it. Next, use a small bead in the bottom of the rubber channel to set the glass. I used a rubber hammer to make sure it was set all the way in. After the first fiasco, it got alot easier. I'm letting it set overnight. I hope by morning, the adhesive will have set up enough. I wish I had taken some photos but it got a little intense. Hope this helps. If you need more, PM me. Skip
