the Prom night Curse
I purchased my 1970 GTO from a neighbor that allowed his son for the first time to drive his GTO to the prom. As the son returned home that night he ran off the road doing minor damage to the lower radiator support and right front fender. The Father was so upset he built a garage for the GTO and locked it up for over 20 years until I was able to buy it from him. Since then I completed a frame off restoration. One thing I notice when disassembling the car that the right lower radiator support bolt was missing.
Well today my son is taking to goat to his 11th grade prom. As I was cleaning the car I noticed the hood and fender was not lining up properly. At first i thought it had been bumped but I could see no damage to the paint so I start looking around. The reason the panels wasn't lining up was the right lower radiator support was missing. How weird is that. I got a new one in and tightened up and its good as new. I'm calling my Insurance company to make sure my policy is up to-date. |

Some cars don't like it when you pay more attention to someone else!

Goat is back in the garage safe and sound except for a little tire rubber on the rear qtr panels. Son said he had to show the Diesel crowd that smoke should come from tires not exhaust. LOL

I took my brothers 1975 Trans Am to one of my proms. My wife's 16 year old nephew asked me to use my 69 Judge for his Junior prom. I said NO. The next week we were at his house for dinner and I saw him talking to my wife. 5 minutes latter he comes over and tells me he is taking the Firebird to Prom. I purchased the 68 Firebird in 1994. Rebuilt the motor in 1995 and had it painted in 1999. This car has never given me any problems. I store my cars 100 miles north of where I live. I took the cover off and drove it home. The next day I spend 1.5 hours teaching nephew how to drive a 4spd. The next day I take my wife for a drive after church and the car will barely run. After 3 days I find the points are shot. I had it fixed in time for Prom. He brought it back the next day and shuts it off in my driveway and it pukes anti-freeze all over the driveway. I get in the car to find the temperature gage only at 230. Dodged one there. Currently have the front of the motor off. I will be home on Friday to install the new water pump and hope no other damage was done. I think the Firebird is made I purchased the Judge last fall.
