Default STUD QUESTION

I am running a 455 with 6x-4 heads . they have screw in studs. A adjustable rocker arm nut assembly just came off one of my valves. It looks as though only two threads were holding the nut on. My question is should I be running the 427 chevy screw in stud? And where to get the correct locking adjustment nut. thanks

Default stud question

well it seems I need a set of 7/16 replacement studs and new lock nuts all around. I am running comp cam steel roller tip 1.50 rockets. & stock length push rods. Any suggestions on a supplier and number would be of great help.

I bought a set new off eBay. Just do a search on there for BBC screw in studs. Affordable. They are 1/2" longer on the rocker side than the stock 3/8 screw in stud. You need them if your running polly locks. Are you using stock length performance pushrods? Either way do not use OEM pushrods with any cam and springs more than OEM specs. You will need new locks as well. There was a seller on eBay selling them for 1.00ea, they were new from kits that customers who choose stud girdle instead.

Here is the ones I bought. Worked perfect with the stock guide plates. And they show stud dimensions.

7/16x20 Contact this guy on ebay. These are the ones I purchased from him. He doesn't have any listed but he builds a lot of engines. I paid 16$ for 16.

You should use the ARP studs, they have the tops machined. The cheaper one are for lack of a better term funky on the top and tend to come loose. JMO

Any stud with a funky top can ground flat on a grinder with some care and a steady hand .. You just need a reasonably flat surface for the polylock set screw to tighten down against.

I chuck mine up in a big hand held drill then spin it while on the grind stone.. its easy.
