John i don't think any of those 69 Judges were Pattern Cars.
They would have had Hood Tach, Gauges and Clock , Remote Mirror , Softray All
amongst other items

I don't recall Rally I's being on hold, as our '68 was an early car with Rally I's and I don't remember it being an issue.

However - they were supposedly widened to 14x8" so there may have been some Engineering trickery going on through Royal.

Nicely written ebay auctions, too. Best wishes on the sales.

I'm pretty fond of the I's myself and even though my 68 was a Rally II car, I'm planning on putting a set of I's on it - nice mix of old & new.

I'm watching this one, but unfortunately figure it will go for more than I would want to spend on it - as cool as it is!

Years ago I attempted to track several of these cars. I had connections in the local DMV. None showed up. However, they were only able to check for Kentucky. We were close to Fort Know and many if not most of these cars were sold to young soldiers so they left with the owner's transfer.

I'm surprised at the level of interest in the '68 as compared to the '65. I love '68s but if I had to choose one of these cars to go gaga over, it would be the '65 tripower, hands down. I really want 'em both though...
Very interesting color combos revealed in those docs too. Mayfair Maize with blue top and interior and even the subject car, black with blue interior. Incredible by today's standards with their grand total of half a dozen exterior and two interior color choices.
By the way, here is the photobucket link made a little easier... http://s845.photobucket.com/user/Ram...14497529509688

I'm exactly the opposite, the '65s are nice but they are way too rectangular for my tastes.

Plus the 65 needs a total resto. The 68 is a survivor.

I'm with Greg about both cars.
But its great that everyone is not wired identically.

The 65 has twice as many views - but less than half the $ on it.
The seasoned vets are holding their cards closer to their chests. lol
I don't know the reserve and not saying for sure it will even draw another bid.
But its been demonstrated in the past that 3x2 3.90 with good colors do strong numbers.
A big washing and cleaning, and outdoor pics would present it better and the money is in the pictures on eBay.

Can easily see the draw of the 68 for sure though.
No doubt about it.
Dynamite condition and ultra rare ... and those hideaways are equal to breast implants in a stretchy halter top.
Nobody can look away for very long

Yeah, if I had the money to buy only ONE...I'd be heartbroken to leave the other behind regardless of which one it was.
Yer killin' me with the halter top BVZ...lol

T&A - it's always T&A!

The hideways are nice but it's the factory 4:33 rear - now that girl, she'll screw!

I'm kinda with you Greg. But it seems things have reversed over the last several years. Years ago, the 'round' cars as I car them weren't very interesting to most unless they were Judges. Tri power, 4 speed cars brought the big $$$. Maybe everyone who really wants an early car has one. Anyway, I don't need another 65 and can't really do a restoration anymore, but I'm the high bidder on the 65 right now. No way I'll get it at what I bid, but I thought I might 'bump' it up a little and create a little more interest in it.

But it would make a great bookend to my current 65 as it is the same color!

Not to start any intergenerational warfare, but age may play a part in the interest. By the time I started driving in '87, I don't recall seeing many if any '65s on the road. Not saying '68s were common, but I did see quite a few 70s A bodies around.

I'm sure that plays a lot into it.

I grew up right in-between. First GTO I ever saw doing a smoky burnout was a neighbor's Gold 4spd '65. First one I ever got a ride in was a '70 and the first one I ever had was a '68.
