Default 1985 GMC Vandura van

My uncle and cousin have a tan, 1985 GMC Vandura. The van reminds me of the A-Team van. It was used for band gigs. The van looks like a camper inside. It looks cool inside and out. They have a problem with the battery dieing. They have replaced the battery and alternator, and are tired of trying to figure it out. I believe it is probably a bad wire somewhere. When they can get the battery charged, it runs and drives great. They have decided to stop throwing money and time into it. My uncle asked me if I wanted to buy it. I'd love to have it, but I have too many vehicles as it is. They have about $1500 in it, and would love to get $750 cash, but are negotiable. My cousin says, if I cannot sell it by Saturday, they'll most likely scrap it. If that's the case, I'm buying the wheels for myself.

If you don't have the cash, but have something I might want of similar value, I could buy it and trade with you.

I will post pictures tomorrow night.

Luke

Love to see the pictures! Are we talking shag carpeting?

Here are some pictures. The back seat is down in the bed position in the pictures. There is a 110 socket outside the van for plugging in an extension cord, so the engine can be turned off at campsites etc. I'm told there is another cabinet, but it was removed for band instrument space.

I bought the wife a new 85 chevy built like that one. It was great for us with the three kids. It had the 305 and would get 17 mpg.

It's a 2500. There is already a pending sale Saturday.

Default It's Alive

The first buyer didn't show up. The van was not scrapped as my trailer is being repaired. I fronted my cousin the money for the van, because he is going off to school and needs some cash. So technically it is mine. I crawled under it and traced the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter. I found an unsecured mounting clamp near the oil pan, and a nick in the cable. I believe this was the issue, but am not sure. I taped the nick, and remounted the cable. I charged the battery, and the van started right up. It runs and drives fine now. I think the price should go up now that I got it running. I'm thinking $1000 now. That's still a bargain. The price is negotiable of course.

It has a tow hitch. Inside, the rear seat turns into a bed. It has removable cabinets and a table. It has at least one chair that swivels. There is a 110v inlet outside the van to power outlets inside the van. I believe at one time there was a small refrigerator, but it is no longer there. Please feel free to ask questions or request pictures.

I have another interested party, but he is not available until next weekend. I'm looking for a quick sale, as I used our vacation money to pay my cousin and uncle. I would really like to keep the rims and tires, so I will negotiate with the buyer if I can keep the wheels.
