I've been "sort of" looking for a 69 TA for years but whats help me back (apart from $$) is I want a car like that, I don't like frame off cars, I want a car that "speaks" to you about it's life, knowing ownership etc.

Sweet car, hard as hell to find!!

Default Definitely not in line for a resto...

Here's what the bad spots look like up close. I'm afraid to fluff any part of the car for fear of making the rest look worse. The interior is discoloured in spots and the door panels have cracks but they feel nice and soft still. She'll stay as she is and I'll beat on her enough to keep the grin on my face as long as I can. Weather hasn't been good enough to provide you with good video of its performance

I agree with leaving the car unrestored. No question about it...but, this I would have to fix, even if I just hit it with a little primer afterward. That's just me though. Great car!

What was the deal? How much did you pay and where did it come from?

Bruno bought the car. If he wants he can share what he paid for it but the car was on ebay for a day with a BIN that was very fair.

Take some Eagle One wire wheel cleaner to those spots. It will take the rust stains off the paint. Then go over it with a cleaner wax.

The wire wheel cleaner is designed to take rust off chrome. It will not damage the paint though....

I don't care for frame off cars either. I prefer a well preserved well maintained original driver. My SD has 120,000 miles.... car is pretty much untouched....just preserved and maintained...

Thanks for the tip Todd....I'll try it out. Yes in fact the car was purchased a few months ago on EBay for less than the "buy now" price of $65000. Very accurately described and represented! I think many dealers shied away due to the fact that it wasn't a prom queen. Dealers don't like survivors unless they're very high end cars, hence the reasonable price. Realistically, it would take all of $50K to do a resto on this one but the charm and character would completely disappear. Thanks again for the kind words and yes I'm still geeked to have found one of my all time fave cars in this condition.
Cheers!

scrub that rust w a sos pad to clean down where its pretty smooth, then get a can of liquid glass auto polish, it will seal it, it wont look as bad, and the way your storing the car now it will take forever to get worse, if your not happy w it, you can do something else, check the vw sights lots of info on patena

i look for these kind of survivor cars at all the car shows. I will walk past a restored car to look at a car in this kind of shape.

SOS is basically steel wool and can wear through the paint. The eagle one wire wheel cleaner won't...
