Block is February 17 1969. Didn't get the dates off of heads. Manifold # is 9178818. Carbs look correct but no tags.

to: pontiacsforever1971. I know you say it's not your engine but there is no such thing as 670 tri-power heads. The 670 heads are 1967 closed chamber heads & are for 1967. The tri-power was last used on 1966 engines , so in that there can be no 428 tri-power engine. It may have tri-power on it but it did not come that way from the factory.

I thought he left out the commas. 428 block, tripower, 670 heads.
What the carbs "look correct" for, I don't have a clue.

It is a 1965 Tripower because of the smaller center carburetor.
And (correct me if I'm wrong)
I believe the 65 tripower is the only small center carburetor setup that will fit the later heads. 64 and earlier wouldn't fit the later heads.

Also notice:
The long dipstick tube would be for an air conditioned car, but doesn't have the pulleys for air.
The thermostat housing was cut short.
The alternator brackets are home made or the originals have been modified. Looks like the rear bracket has been flattened, cut short and welded to the front bracket just short of the adjustment slot.
And, odd looking motor mount. I wonder if it was installed in the old car in the background.

.

Thanks 400 4 speed. Im aware of all that rex! The motor came out of a 37 pontiac so im sure he had to do some modifications. Again let me get all my , in so we dont get are panties in a bunch lol. It is a 1969 428 block. 1967, 670 heads. I believe the tripower is a 64 1/2. There is no tags on the carbs.
