Exclamation Suspicious RAIII Formula

Another 70 RAIII Formula on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-Fire...US_Cars_Trucks

From the ad: "The car has all of its original GM sheetmetal"
Oh Really? Yeah... the parts may be original to the car... question is what car?
1.) Both quarter panels are wrong for a 70
2.) Passenger front fender is wrong for a 70
3.) Hood is wrong for a 70

And look at the data tag rivets... hmmmmm. Anyone else smell a re-body?

Numerous other obvious issues.

If you are contemplating this car, be very careful.

The center caps on the wheel's, aren't they suppose to be red? The rivets that hold the cowl tag on are not correct. My guess is this is a later model body that has had a rear tail pan installed and a vin tag swap. For this kind of $ I'd want to see the proof stamp under the AC box. Very nice car though.

How can you tell 70 quarters from later ones? Still learning these things?

The center caps are kind of a choice thing IMO. My '70 is supposed to have red but I run the black ones.

The car in question looks good from a distance.... But appears to be a frankenbird.

The inside jam where the door latch striker is, that "recessed area" below it on a '70 is just square. This one has the later model recess in it that is not square. Ill see if I can get a picture of my '70 to reference it.

This is not exclusive to all 70s as some later ones received the 71 qtrs. In fact some got one of each. We have discussed this in the past

Wasn't hood with steel braces used on later ones too? This looks to be a late one?

I would say post a PHS instead of some of these bad trunk weatherstripping installation shots...

Yup. The drivers door looks to be original.

I've seen a re body once with a 77 shell that they replaced the floors, trunk, tail panel, and window channel to create a 71. It was ridiculous.

Having a 4speed without a tach seems so wrong. Those exhaust tips look funky as well.

The car looks nice, but I'd have a few questions to ask if I was a buyer.

Thumbs down

This guy does not have good rep. Check out some of his buyers feedback.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...edbackAsSeller

The following are quotes from his feedback page:

"Title was not clear. Car had to be towed upon delivery. No help with anything."

"THIS CAR IS SO BAD I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT DID CONTACT NO RESPONCE"

"Should be negative. Car totally misrepresented. These guys are crooks BEWARE!"

"under hood fire never disclosed would not take calls emails ignored us no help"

"Never sent all parts, won't answer emails. Took my money though! Stay away!!"

door handles should not be body color, either.

Roll down the 100 pictures about 3/4 the way til the pic of the face of the block and the stamping of the assembly number and WS show up. Amateur hour at its finest

Quote from ad: "original 15" Pontiac Rally wheels were blasted and painted the factory colors"

They are not 70 wheels and not the right colors. Also has wrong center cap and lug nuts. Just about everything that could be wrong with a wheel that you can think of.

Incorrect, substandard, wrong etc aside, the one thing that jumps out is how damn good that color combo is, the black top and interior on Lucerne is amazing. 4 speed RA in that combo is about the best. Car is worth tidying up as needed, still seems like a special find if real.

It's nice when we get posts like this from people who actually know what they are talking about.

It's a shame that people on this board are so hell bent to rip a car apart they have no intention (or capability) of owning anyways.

OPH, I know that you have seen this picture before but for those who have not. This is a picture of member Oldbird's 2 day old 1970 Trans Am with standard int. These pictures clearly show door handle tape, James ( 71blueta) also had a 70 that had door handle tape. I do agree that these cars should not have the tape, but they do. Mistakes happen, mine has them now. For those that would like to see more pics of Oldbirds 70 here is a link to some back in the day pics.

I did mine about 2 years ago. I was painting some spoiler welting and put a couple pieces of black electrical tape on a board and painted it, stuck it on and it's been on ever since. Don't mind the incorrect door handle

This isn't the first time you have implied you are more righteous than other members here.

Why would someone have to have intentions of buying a car to point out what is wrong or right about said car? And who do you think you are to imply that someone in this thread doesn't have the capability of purchasing this car.

Your comments are the type that make people want to stop posting or reading these forums and they add nothing of any value.
