Anyone use this diaper? What will I run into? - my set up is stock 69 Firebird frame/mounts with canton 15-451 oil pan.

Paul. Can't address the merits of that diaper. I used a DRE diaper on my 69 GP. I have a Canton with DS kick out. Not sure of number. I a using the stock mounts and AP front plate. Fits great but not cheap but very nice. I heard a lot of negative comments on using a BBC /universal diaper. JMO/experience

My experience with generic diapers in my cars has not been good. They are very baggy, tend to touch the headers (burn) and are very challenging to install/remove. I have sent my oil pans to DRE and had custom diapers made with great results. It's a 2-3 week leadtime and they use Kevlar to prevent them from burning.

DJ Safety makes a specific Pontiac lower engine containment device/diaper part. You just have to specify if you're using the factory mounts or if the engine is mounted on plates, and what oil pan. Options include wrap around straps, fire proof panels, etc. Here's one in progress (just had the strap mounts sewn on) for a PY member using the stock motor mounts.

Have it on my car. Fits over the deep sump Milodon pan. I have it clipped onto the front and rear header bolts. But my motor is moved back 10" and I have the factory crossbar cut out.

Thanks for all the great info.
I made my own belly pan for my old F.E. dragster in aluminum, I'm considering it for this car, but not sure. I think it cost me $20 - LOL I just found the approved absorb. pad I had as a spare. I loved my old belly pan, I had it attached with dzus fastners and could have it removed in 30 seconds for oil changes. The NHRA guy liked it. I assume you guys need to remove the rear and side straps and peel back to change oil? I'm not liking that for the fits all diaper. hmmmm, decisions

My dad has the summit engine diaper and like Aaronman said it is a bit baggy/loose.I had to get creative with bungy cords to keep it snug to the block/pan.
I use the DRE diaper. Dennis is easy to get along with and has great customer service. I'm very pleased with the way my DRE diaper fits. FWIW ,as another option, I think Vin63 on this board has a in with the guys with DJ safety and can get you a good deal on a SFI approved diaper.Might want to pm him and get more info.I have no info on the way it fits but Vin seems happy with his.

The one in post 4 is mine and sfi certified. The DRE , which are very good would have been 3 times the price. I don't race a lot so couldn't justify the extra price. The group i'll be running with requires a diaper. I was very happy with the diaper I got thru Vin.
I was at a meeting with Dennis a month ago and he talked about his diaper and very was impressive with all the work into it, ease of cleaning it and the military grade Kevlar he uses.
