interior
I believe restoring an interior of color is tough..one that I never faced..the more you can keep original (like the console and deal with an imperfection) the better since all this stuff was mostly molded in color...suppose that car got all new seat covers, my concern is matching that mottling effect...I would like to know if LEGENDARY uses an exact same material as used in 1971...1970 & 71 door panels use a small silver screw to mount the door panel (including map pockets) with no washer..1972 & later use a combo I BELIEVE...can anyone post 1972 & later lower hard plastic mounting screws detail?

Help
Is this wire conduit pipe correct for a 455HO motor? We can't seem to find any drawings confirming or denying its use. It doesn't seen correct to us and want to make sure before we start putting everything back together.
Thanks, Dennis |

Looks kind of like the unit on my '74 (which they started using in '73). I'm a buyer if you're not interested in using.

It wasn't correct in 1972. The positive cable wound down through the power steering hardlines connected to the steering gear and then went horizontal along the bottom of the block and through several cable holders to the starter. Several threads on here discuss it. Probably the same on '71, but not sure.

Thanks for the link to the older post on this. It looks like the '71's and '72's positive cables are routed the same and similar to the earlier RA motors. My SD didn't have one either, so it makes sense that any motor with the RA exhaust manifolds were routed this way. Dennis |

Chris,
You're not a kiddin'. Mission creep is a slippery slope. I'm on the verge of even more MC. Dennis |

Thanks guys! The tube is gone now.
Little update, we ready to break in the new cam (Summit 2801), so hopefully that will happen this weekend. Dennis |

Looking at numbers and dates a little closer the heads have a L080 date code on the outside below the valve cover and an 'X' on one of the exhaust ports, which point to service replacement heads I believe? The intake is also a service replacement with a '76 date code. The crossover and exhaust manifolds are original and in great shape. Dan had the surfaces planed since both sides had leaks at the center ports (it sounded like a Model T idling). The original block is B221 with the VIN. The carb is 2080 date which is early (late June 1970), so maybe not original? The M-22 is original to the car.
I'm not too sure how long parts predated the actual car build date and if these are kosher or not. Looking for member thoughts. There is also a yellow crayon date on the front hood bulkhead of 2-12-71 and the hood has the riveted metal bracing on it, which is correct for 1971? Thanks, Dennis |

I forgot to mention that it is an 05B date code on the trim tag.

2XC is factory correct on roundports in 71. Should have date code for later castings..
