I got a Free GTO in the early nineties
Around 1991 a longtime friend tells me about a coworker of his who has just bought land in Scotts Valley(near Santa Cruz) and they needed to clean the property get rid of some of the junk cars and parts and everything was for free "just haul it away". One of the cars was a supposed to be a GTO. I said I was interested and set up a time to go see this GTO.
It turned out to be a 66 4 speed car with a 3:55 posi but it was an abandoned project, It was a roller. So naturally I said yes, I would take it, and pushed the GTO on to car dolly and towed it home behind a 70 Roadunner. Last edited by post toastie; 09-01-2014 at 01:58 AM. |

Best I ever did was $50. Twice. That was in the 70's.
The first was a wrecked but running 3 speed 65 GTO post coupe. Second one was 4 speed 67 hardtop with a blown engine. I still have parts from both of them stashed away. |

I forgot I posted this, The 66 got parted out, I know people would save the 66 now.
My 65 was something I bought around the same time as 66 it was a 4 barrel 326 with ac I paid $900 for it the interior was shot, no rust. The 65 was my daily driver for about 10 years. I sold it |
