69 Ram air IV 4 speed part number
Looking for a part number for the M21 transmission on a 69 RA IV GTO. I'm in the final stages of the restoration on my 69 and I'm trying to find a correct metal part number tag for the transmission.

4 spd part number
Check with the "Parts Place"- I remember they started reproducing them about 1-2 years ago. Their repro looked good.

Some of the Parts Place numbers are not advertised correct. It would be a good idea to get the number from another source than their add before you buy from them.

I already sent The Parts Place a note and they didnt know the correct number. Someone must have an original car with the tag still in place.

Well my initial research turned up nothing. Neither a tag or a conformation on the number. I did however find information on a 9798974 number for a 69 Firebird M21. Based on this number the 9798973 does make since for a 69 GTO. Sent a note to The Parts Place to see if they can make me a tag.

I know it's a tag for a 69 GTO as I know the car it came from but I was wondering if there were different numbers for different applications - 400, RA III or RA IV.

8975 is the number for a m-21 in a 69 bird.The Parts Place add has 8974 listed as a m-21 so now everyone that ends up on e-bay seems to be listed wrong.

The M20 I have out of a '69 RAIII Judge has a tag with 9798972. Jim

I can probably get one made like it, but the numbers would be indented & not raised like the original.

You may eventually find a used one on ebay or with parts dealers. I see 2 9798972's on ebay now so a 9798973 may eventually show up.
