Default 73 trans am

How much would it hurt the value of a matching number 73 trans am auto with air if I put a period correct 4 speed in it.

Prolly not MUCH......unless it's a nice survivor type car.....OR meticulously restored.

It MAY increase resale OR be easier to sell.....if done correctly....

MORE people seem to want STICKS than auto's....

Do it RIGHT....and save the original parts....

Just for info, If originally equipped with a 4 speed, it would likely have been
a Muncie M21 with Big input, and TH400 output. The BW Super T10 was used
in 74 (at least the later part) and would also work just fine, but would not have been
uses in the 73 from Pontiac.

Cool

I believe the Muncie in 73 was an M20, not M21.

Brew - help me out here.

X2 get the clutch switch and back drive all installed correctly, the reverse lights working, etc.. correct hump. Its a bit bigger job than most think to do it "correctly"

M21 for a '73 T/A. I've got one here.
M21 also came in the 455/4 spd Formulas for '73

The Trans Am's came with M-20 Muncie's standard 4 speeds that year.

I think there was only one bellhousing used from 1965 - 1979. It was probably also the same for the 301 manuals made in 80 - 81 as well.

As I recall, there was at least 2 different variations.... the late one (75 and up) carried a different part #....and had mounting provisions for a clutch slave cylinder which was used on a Buick V6

Default shifter

Did the 73 get an early or late style shifter handle?

Some 70's.....and 71-78 4 speed were all the same chrome Hurst lever......79 went to a shorter version....for some strange reason.....

Camero was different....they used an ITM.....
