My "significant other"........in early 1978 wanted a NEW mustang.....and settled on one very similar to the one in the ad.....white with gold tape

BUT....I said it had to have a V8,.....T-tops...and a 4 speed.....

As soon as as it was out of warranty....we had dual exhaust..(no converters).......a Holley Street Dominator.....with a 4bbl....which made things a bit more interesting.....

Still a "girly car"....but was kinda fun to drive....as long as nobody you knew saw you driving it...

As I recall,....I actually got a speeding ticket in it........in Goleta,California.....which wasn't that hard to do....with the 55mph speed limit...

Great art! Partying in the back seat, which in a bird is OK if there is just one of you and you can go sideways! Back seats designed for legless midgets....

Thanks, thats my backseat in a graduation present 78 Mustang! That was a four speed car at least. I drove it too. Not my cup of tea, compared to my car that was a 71 GTO 400/4 speed....

My uncle's an artist, when I was a kid any time I was over his house I'd have him draw cars for me. I was amazed at how naturally it came to him & how fast he could do it.

I'm curious about the mushroom cloud of smoke reflected in the rear view mirror....

Thanks for the compliments and such...

These sketches were for a Architecture class. The exercise was to sketch things in your everyday life and it happened to be around 1979...

I lived at home my first year in college. This was the focal point for my parents. They are still alive today, and maybe my sketch got them to quit?

Anyways back to the real topic.

Awesome drawing, I have absolutely NO artistic talent at all! A good friend of mine had a Mustang II with the 4 cylinder and and automatic. It could barely get out of its own way.
I was driving it on one of our college road trips and I pulled out to pass another car on a two lane highway with no other cars in sight. By the time I was even with the car being passed, I had an oncoming car. Full throttle resulted in very little additional acceleration. We made it by in time, but barely. Very scary.

That Mustang II / Trans Am ad comparison is the funniest ying yang seen in a while And True! Pontiac tapped into a void when people were sick of underpowered "sticker" cars that were doggy dogs....

I get it....restore a car, contact Burt about a joint venture on selling it, transfer title into his name, split the profits a year later when it sells over market value. BINGO!

Personally I believe the market is growing for these cars (70-81) all the time.. They where iconic cars in a time where there was very little to compete for sport enthusiast interest outside of fashionable European cars. Simply stated they where all it for the average kid growing up,, and those kids are now coming into real money with their business successes...

The 73 SD held the fastest production built car from 73-85 I believe the story goes and the whole Bandit craze sealed the deal... In the GTA (greater Toronto area) I am seeing more and more people that literally get excited and stop to discuss my cars where ever I go (from Cruises to Corporate lunches they are the bell of the ball even when sitting beside much more expensive hardware)... The camps seem divided as some want stock and others want Pro-touring rides that reflect handling similar to their new car current driving experience that they have grown accustom to.. In the end it really doesn't matter,,, a really nice F-body is going to only go up I believe (and quite possibly substantially over the next 5-7 years)
