Drag Week 2015 results
We made it back home Saturday night from Drag Week. The week went much like last year for me with no issues along the way and the car running like a bracket car all week. It was a little faster than last year and went 10.78 @ 125.89 during TNT Sunday evening which is my personal best (see sig for averages). A great experience and I encourage anyone thinking about doing it to do it!
Congrats to Randy Belehar (Primered Pontiac) for taking home 3rd in SR/BB/PA and the quickest Pontiac award with an 8.99 @ 148.83 average his 68 Firebird. If I'm not mistaken, that is the quickest Pontiac to ever finish Drag Week! Randy also had a new personal best of 8.89 @ 149. Here's a video of his run from my car in the other lane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1QKH_OkMAg Several good pics of one of Randy's wheelstands in the photo gallery on this page of Hotrod's website. http://www.hotrod.com/events/hot-rod...2015-test-day/ Congrats to Vince Rasch for winning the SS/BB/NA class with a 9.98 @ 138 average in his 69 Firebird. Vince is running an all aluiminum 535 (I believe) in his car. Vince is also one of the 4 guys that has competed in all 11 Drag Weeks!

Job well done! Sounds like your Bird ran well all week; no small task I am sure. And thanks for the video; by the way I assume you have a dash cam? What model is it if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.

Thanks for the congrats, hopefully we'll all make it next year. It was allot of work, some self inflicted, but the most fun I've had in along time. Thanks for the help, and the rocker arm.

Thanks guys!
Hooter - I thought you had that monkey off your back this year. You should be very pleased with your 10.1X runs! You'll get it next year! Your lifter issue doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling about mine since I'm running the same lifters. prostreet64 - It's a GoPro Hero 4 Silver. I have several different mounts for it. That video was on the suction cup mount on the inside of the windshield right below the mirror. PrimeredPontiac - You had quite a few issues and you powered right through them like they were nothing. Something to be proud of for sure! I was really hoping to get to see you "swinging for the fence" on the last day but I think you made the right decision.

There were only 3 first gen Firebirds in Drag Week this year. One in the 10's (mine), one in the 9's (Vince's) and one in the 8's (Randy's). I talked to John and he said he was planning on bringing his Firebird but had a head gasket issue and had to bring the Judge instead. I tried to talk Kelvin into bringing his Firebird race car next year and he didn't want any part of that! He showed me a pic of his Grand Prix he intends to run next year...very cool! Hope to see you next year!

Yep, I forgot about that one! I wasn't sure if it even made it through tech but the results show it made a 12.xx pass on Monday. Interesting, it's listed in the Pro Street N/A class....I wish I'd gotten a look at it.

Ya John has had lots of problems with that engine.. Its a head Gasket killer!! I think Kelvins TA would be cool but I am sure the Grand Prix will be also! I had issues with mine until the middle of the week and found allot of the problems. Sold my race car and still have that engine but not very streetable so Changing heads, cam, and doing some rear end work plus things I didn't fix right when putting it together last year.. Still trying to decide If I want to try the 200R4 route or just stick with the old 400 and of course the cam selection.. Have allot of old school Comp cams in the drawer but they are huge lift.
