Yes. I've seen that fan on several original cars also

Maybe the copy editor wrote that 'declutching' fan, when it basically meant a non-thermostatic fan?

The parts book say it's either a thermostatic type for AC/HD or just give the size of the blades or number of blades.

The description in the pic I posted is kind of vague on what it was.

I wondered the same thing over in the RA II GTO Roll Call thread....
My car had a 19" 4 blade fan but I have no idea if it's original. When we acquired the car in 1988, it had a 1967 WZ engine with 670 heads so I've always assumed the fan came with the engine. I'll never know what actually happened though...

John, I believe the description you posted was simply the standard Firebird 400 description, and they added the term "Ram Air".

In the Pontiac Parts Book, it shows the 19" 4-blade unit.

Great stuff - love the "As Raced" paint scheme - too bad they didn't restore it back to that.

Great article. Even better story. If anyone is going to stumble across the first RAII bird....that is the perfect person.

Jim, awesome car, just beautiful. Let me know if you'd like a correct window sticker for that bad boy.

Default Hemmings MMOY

Hey guys-

I wanted to make sure everyone gets their vote in soon for the Hemmings Muscle Machine of the Year! There are beautiful cars in the running. Each has a unique story behind the car. From the first time I saw the article about Jim Mino's '68 RA II, I was amazed! Unbelievable story and a stunning car! My vote is for the Firebird! Good luck Jim!

Cool Ted!

Was this at the show at Garlit's Museum earlier this year?

Do you have the dealer number and zone from the phs on your car?
