Just finished installing Doug's headers on my 67 GTO. This is an auto car with Edelbrock round ports. Probably the easiest installation I have ever done! No clearance issues anywhere and tuck up nice underneath. Had to move the brake distribution block (which was known prior to the installation and a little playing with the transmission lines. (by the way, the previous Hooker D ports had signifantly less ground clearance)

Years ago, I bought a set of Blackjack 3 tube headers for my '71 GTO. They fit like a glove and never leaked. I ran the same header gaskets for 10 years and only changed them because I took the headers off to repaint them. They had 3 individual header tube flanges and for the life of me, I don't know why every header maker thinks a single flange is better. The individual flanges allow the tubes to flex as you cinch them down giving a superior seal, especially when the cylinder head flange surface us out of whack.

I finally broke down and put a set of FlowTech 4-tube coated headers on. They also fit like a glove with no clearance issues. That said, the collector flanges terminated in different locations than the Blackjacks and would not bolt up to the exhaust system. The passenger side header was shorter than the driver's side and pointed slightly to the passenger side. I did a broom handle bend to realign it and had new head pipe extensions made. I am on my 3rd set (dead soft aluminum this time) gaskets in 3 years.

I just bought a round port set D567 and it says you have to change the clutch z-bar to a 1964-65 one and also to unhook or modify the steering column lock rod.Did any of you have to do this on yours. Thanks
