Default Methanol to E85

Hi Guys,
Have any of you ever switched from Methanol to E85 using your Methanol carbs ?
I have 2 Dominators with the quick fuel conversion kits that work great. Just wondering if those can be used for E85 or do I have to spend another 7 bills for E 85 kits ? Thanks, Dil

We run an 1150 Dominator on E85, Can't think it will even be close. Boosters too big, calibration too big. Ask Quick Fuel the difference in their kits for reference. Good Luck, Rich

Dil,

When I was looking for a core carburetor to send Mark Sullens for an E85 conversion, I asked him if a methanol carburetor could also be converted. His reply was that it didn't really matter because he changes boosters, metering blocks, bleeds, etc to work correctly with e85 and they are quite a bit different than methanol or gas.

I went the custom built route over a conversion kit after talking to a ton of people that used kits and still ended up sending the carb out to be done again to get it to be satisfactory. So far I am pleased with the results it netted me.

They'll probably idle... but they'd run like crap and dump a ton of fuel in the pan. The fuel load for ethanol Vs. Methanol is significantly different - as others indicated they won't work without significant mods. If it were me I'd hold on to what you have and build the E carbs separate - easier to revert back to methanol later if you choose. Gdlk!
