Those were the 67 PFST cars. There were 7 of them. 6s and V8s and yes, they led to the T/A.

Did you notice the HURST wheels on the PFST car...would have been a pretty snazzy bird.

Did you notice the special hood - had a nice rolled edge around that opening like it had been stamped that way!

Cast aluminum scoop and cast aluminum oil pan machined to match the rocker cover and timing cover. The 1967 model was quite a beast, running low 15's in the 1/4 mile with two people aboard. Being the OHC-6 didn't have the torque of a big cube V8, every pound of weight that could be shed would improve performance, so I believe this car may have touched the 14's with one person on board.

Yes, one of the OHC versions survived. Planning on a future article for Smoke Signals.

Cool car. Appears to have a Camaro steering wheel and an odd pattern on the seat upholstery

Also...
looks like back-up lights under the bumper a la' Camaro Rally Sport yet retains standard Firebird back-up lights in the tail light lenses. Camaro utilized a solid red lens on the RS models. Or maybe I'm seeing something else.

Car has many special features for sure.
I like the burl like wood-grain and it appears to be on the over sized shift knob/ball as well. Here is Part 1 to the Part 2 link above with more close ups... http://www.hotrod.com/features/histo...s-born-part-1/

I thought that I read they were machined out of billet on one of the brand new machines they got.

Yes, sorry for the cast aluminum comment. The scoop was indeed done on a CNC machine.
