Default New Guy Newtown CT

Hi,
I just started a new project. 67 Firebird
Has no engine or trans. Good bones in the chassis/body.
I located a 68 400 in pretty good shape.
Could someone suggest a machine shop in the northeast that is Pontiac experianced ?

Thanks,

George

Hi George! There are actually a few of us PY guys in town.

I have no first hand experience with them, but I've heard a lot of good things about Carlquist. http://carlquistengines.com

Anyone have a Pontiac motor cleaned, bored, Decked, align honed etc. at a shop you were happy with?
A shop with Pontiac Torque plates and Pontiac engine specific experience?
Northeast region, doesn't have to be CT.

I've had 3 sets of heads done, 1 set ported.
He polished my crank for nothing and picks up and delivers to me in So NJ.

Pontiac & Olds are his specialties.........
VERY reasonable pricing!

Hansen Racing Engines, LLC

Middlesex, NJ 08846

Larry 732-748-9770
I usually leave a message and he calls during his lunch.

i will highly recommend Valley Auto Machine in beacon fall. guys name is Pete. he's done several engines for me over the years and have nothing but praise for his quality.

will second carlquist, and leifert. they have both done smaller jobs for me and i have been very pleased.

of the 3, i think carlquist will have torque plates.

Welcome George - another guy from Newtown here. Where abouts are you in town? I'm in Sandy Hook down off 34.

I know Pete at Valley Auto Machine as well, he does great work & has an engine dino on site so that he can break it in properly for you before giving it back.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
I'll check out all of them.
I picked up a 400 from one of the members in DE just yesterday.
Long Ride. Lol
I have a ton of body work to do as well.

I had a '68 FB when I was a lot younger and this '67 FB showed up with good body bones and no motor and I couldn't resist.
I just finished a '72 Olds cutlass. Goes without saying, my wife is a gem.

Looking forward to more chats with you fine folks.

Thanks,

George

If you need fenders I have a pair (one NOS) - would save me the trouble of bringing them to Norwalk.

Hi,

Sheet metal I'm good. What I need is door handles and locks, door panels, a 4 speed console, package tray. Probably a lot of other assorted interior trim and dash board stuff. The car had the interior removed and what didn't get lost is in boxes. I haven't really gone through it all yet.
BTW, I'm in the Walnut Tree Hill Rd area of Sandy Hook.

Thanks,

George

X2.

Kiwi works on a lot of high end builds and does excellent work.

Andy is local to me in Plainville. you can't beat his pricing for the quality work that is received.
