50 hp in the motor and lose 40- 50 pounds off the car.
Rules say i can lose 100 but not buying carbon doors and repainting my car. Gotta draw a line somewhere.

I'll be re-doing the trans I just had redone in December. Blew out a seal, I think. Racepak shows I pegged the RPM at my revmax for a few seconds during my burnout. I guess I'll start using my burnout rev limiter.

Also, I plan to get out to the track more this year. Then maybe won't have to relearn everything each time out.

Happy New Year!!

Jim

63 - head gaskets and oil change.

65 - get going again after sitting last year. Lose 150 lbs or so with some glass bumpers, deck lid, and Kirkey seats.

Getting one cylinder sleeve found a crack.

Raising the compression from 11.5 to 15.1 compression.

Goal for the Boss Bird once again this year is to have a fresh, complete engine in the car AND an assembled short block in reserve. This has been the goal for three years now and on-track situations and parts failures at the worst possible time have not allowed this to happen. We need to have this level of spares so we can get serious about tuning the car to run fast. Our tune-up has been very soft and conservative as we battled all kinds of issues. We seem to be getting closer to having a tune-up that will go some rounds. If the nitro Gods don't unleash another round of pain, we should have a great year.

Did a freshen on the engine in the '78, went to a lower tension ring set, better oil pump, bumped comp a bit (-.040 off the heads), more cam, 1 1/2 Wilson tapered vs HVH and Jeff tweaked the carb. Waiting on weather...

Only days away from firing up the DOHC hemi four, so 2017 goal is to get it installed in the lakester. Car needs a number of safety updates, so getting it on a track next year is probably overly optimistic.

On another front- I hope to replace the leather facing of the cone clutch in the 1917 Buick. The clutch chatters so badly that the whole car jumps up and down!
