Just got back from Straight to Ale Brewery; nice bitter on the patio, but had to leave before they strike up the band.

Did a hike this AM, done by 10AM. tee-shirt weather in mid Feb. Ahhhh yea.

Smile Spring !

Well ya'll, I reckin it's spring, here in the deep South.

The grass is green & growing. The weeds are green & growing even faster. There is not a cloud in the sky, and the temp is 81. Hey, what else can I say--it's is a beautiful day !

And, this morning we were surrounded by Robins. I counted more than a dozen in our front yard, and over 3 dozen out back, in the horse lot. Also, TJ's horse is starting to shed his winter fuzz. When the Robins arrive, and the horse begins to shed, we know Spring is either here, or very near.

We may have a couple of more cold fronts come thru, but probably no more below freezing temps. But, it has happened. I remember that back in late March of either '70 or '71, we had enuff snow to blanket all the roads. Me & a friend got into my '69 RA3 Goat & drove around for most of the day, on all the country roads in our area. Most of the roads had absolutely no tire tracks at all. It seemed that we had about the only car on the road that day. So, I just drove right down the center of the road, leaving only one clear set of tracks in the smooth snow. It was just a very unusual & special day, in my memory.

That's what I always think too and here in north central Georgia, I've been seeing them every day now for a couple of weeks. Flowering trees and Azaleas are blooming too. Especially the Tulip Magnolia trees. Dogwoods are still not trusting...

I'm painting inside today, so I had to fire up the A/C so the paint would dry. This is the earliest I can remember turning on the A/C. High today:76. High tomorrow:82. High on Saturday:42

Still great weather here, with even more Robins. And, just about sundown, TJ spotted some of our resident deer, down in the SW corner of our property. She counted 5.

Her little camera don't have a good zoom. But, you can make out the deer, in the pic, taken from out carport.

Really nice out right now, no wind, blue sky, kitchen window thermometer says 26 but if feels warmer when I was just out there with the dogs.

Waiting for Stella to show up on Tuesday - going to have to put the plow back on!

Default Cold weather

-20C last night and -12 now with a wind the old timers used to call a "lazy wind". It blows right through you rather than around you. Ed

Default Spring Has Sprung Here

We've had about 3 days of sunshine & mid 80's. The grass & weeds are growing. Us & the neighbors have fired up our lawn mowers. Plenty of flowers everywhere.

Everything is covered in pollen. Butterflies, bumble bees, wasps, & mosquitoes are flying. And all the little birdies are happily going tweet tweet tweet.

Yeah, it's definitely springtime in North Louisiana.

We went from a week of mid 70's to 30's and snow in 3 days, back to 70's and then hit 84 yesterday, massive hail storm last night that damaged two of my vehicles and house and garage roofs.

Mother nature is Bi-polar and off her meds.

Default Twister

We had a little twister come thru our community about midnight. Hit about 1/2 to 3/4 mile North of us. Blew down quite a few trees, and damged some buildings, including at least one mobile home.

The worst damage we saw was at the feed store where TJ buys her horse feed. On the big storage bldg behind the main store, much of the roof was gone, and the rest was mangled. TJ got some good pics of it, as well as a tree that blew down right next door.

Also made pics of some other nearby blow-downs. When she brings me the camera card, I'll post pics. The power has been out here since midnight. So, I'm on battery power, in my Chromebook & our Verizon hot spot. They estimate that our power will be restored by 8pm. But that looks doubtful, since there are still transformers on the ground, along the main line that feeds the line to our house.

We bought ice to keep our frig stuff in tonight, just in case.

Right now, the weather is great. Just have no power.
